Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare December 02, 2014

This fall, Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare, which includes Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center, was recognized with distinction in areas of patient safety and quality by The Leapfrog Group and The Joint Commission.

Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare was honored with an “A” rating for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group, which uses the Hospital Safety Score℠ to rate how well hospitals protect patients from errors, injuries and infections. Developed under the guidance of Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. More than 2,500 U.S. general hospitals were assigned scores in fall 2014, with only 31 percent receiving an “A” grade.

The Joint Commission recently recognized Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for a number of conditions. Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare was recognized for its achievements in heart attack, pneumonia, heart failure and surgical care. This is the fourth year for the healthcare system to receive this distinction.

These honors are made possible by the dedication and hard work of the exceptional caregivers at each facility, and Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare thanks the physicians, nurses and staff members for their commitment to creating an environment that is safe for patients and provides the best possible care.
