Las Palmas Medical Center Names New Medical Director

Las Palmas Medical Center has named Jorge Sainz, M.D., as the new medical director of its pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and pediatric transport. In this role, Dr. Sainz oversees the daily management and operations of the PICU. Board-certified in pediatric critical care medicine and general pediatrics, Dr. Sainz assumed this role earlier this year.

Before rejoining Las Palmas Medical Center, Dr. Sainz worked at El Paso Children’s Hospital in a variety of pediatric departmental roles. He also worked in pediatric positions at University Medical Center from 2008 to 2011, and he previously served as the medical director of the PICU and pediatric transport at Las Palmas Medical Center from 2005 to 2008.

Dr. Sainz completed his pediatric residency and a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric critical care at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he also earned his Doctor of Medicine degree.
