Digital Mammography: A Closer Look at Breast Cancer

With today’s technology, getting a mammogram isn’t like it used to be. Today there is Digital Mammography, which brings new meaning to patient satisfaction. Like film mammography, digital mammography uses x-rays to create an image of the breast. But instead of the image being printed as a hard copy, the image is stored and recorded in digital form allowing physicians to view and manipulate the digital images on a computer screen – zoom in, magnify and optimize – for a clearer view of breast tissue. If breast cancer is detected early, before it spreads, 98 percent of diagnosed women will be alive five years later.
