Del Sol Medical Center recently made a wish come true for a special needs patient in the intensive care unit. When 29-year-old Sammy Duran expressed that his greatest wish was to meet a Cowboys player, the staff at Del Sol Medical Center did everything they could to make it happen. The importance of this opportunity was evident—Duran, a lifelong Cowboys fan with terminal Stage 3 lymphoma, kept his Dallas Cowboys slippers by his hospital bedside.
On May 29, hospital staff granted Duran’s wish and arranged for a Skype session with former Dallas Cowboys player and current free agent Isaiah Stanback. The men chatted about their backgrounds, including when the Cowboys drafted Stanback in 2007, as well as the latest news from the Cowboys’ mini camp.
Surrounded by family members and with a broad smile on his face, Duran met one of his heroes and had a dream fulfilled.
