Neonatal Intensive Care Units Celebrate Graduates at Reunions
Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center will celebrate neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) reunions in early November for babies born and cared for in each facility’s NICU. Because of the intense nature of the care provided for babies in the NICU and the length of their stay, doctors and nurses often form lifelong relationships with their patients, and the reunion allows families to be reunited with nursing staff and doctors.
“We look forward to this event each year as it allows us to catch up with our NICU graduates and their families,” Arleen Casarez-Aguilar, Las Palmas Medical Center NICU director, said. “We love to see the growth and progress our graduates have made since their time in the NICU, and this event allows us to stay connected with them.”
Las Palmas Medical Center’s NICU reunion will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Funtastic Punch, which features a recreational facility with various platforms of play such as a real-life stage, library and science lab and animal hospital, among other activities.
Del Sol Medical Center’s NICU reunion will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6 at Gumballs Party Room and will feature face painting, among other activities.
“Many graduates and their families spend weeks, sometimes even months in the NICU, so this reunion is an especially meaningful event for us,” Camille Gerdes, Del Sol Medical Center NICU director, said.
A large number of families are expected to attend both NICU events.
