Delayed bath

Giving birth at our hospitals gives you the option of a delayed bath for your baby. Delaying your baby’s bath can benefit them in many ways — from strengthening the immune system and lowering the risk of infection to keeping blood sugar stabilized.

Skin-to-skin contact

Our staff encourages skin-to-skin touch between you and your baby. Also called kangaroo care, skin-to-skin contact keeps your baby’s body warm and breathing rate normal. It also lowers your and your partner's stress levels and helps you bond emotionally with your new baby.

Private neonatal intensive care rooms

Some babies need special care after birth, either because they are born prematurely or with a medical condition requiring treatment. We recognize that privacy is important for every family. Our state-of-the-art Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offers large private rooms for newborns where each parent and family can spend time alone with the baby. One of the rooms even features two beds, for twin births.

Women’s Center at Del Sol Medical Center

Del Sol Medical Center has an entire floor dedicated to women’s services that include high-quality labor and delivery care, postpartum and antepartum care.

In addition to the offerings at both of our hospitals mentioned above, our facility also has:

• 24-hour nurse anesthetist
• Webcam system in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to view your baby at any time from your phone

Prenatal care for women and teens

If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, our Women's and Teen Centers are here to provide women of all ages with support and guidance. With five centers located across El Paso, we focus on connecting women with community resources and pregnancy education, and we provide access to some of the best prenatal care at our facilities.

Services we offer

We offer walk-in access to our centers or one-on-one virtual consultations with healthcare professionals who can answer your questions and help you find the right care.

Services we offer at our Women's and Teen Centers include:

• Free pregnancy test
• Physician referral services to help you find the right doctor for you
• Prenatal and basic infant care classes to teach you what you need to know about having and raising a baby

Medicaid application information

You can apply for Medicaid at any of our locations. To help you successfully complete your application, we will ask you for the following documents:

• Birth certificate
• Picture ID (government-issued driver's license, or identification card)
• Proof of income (last two pay stubs or a company letter from your immediate supervisor)
• Proof of residency (utility bill with your address — if the bill is not in your name, a letter from the individual on the bill stating that you are residing at the address is required.)
• Social security card
